World Water Day 22 March 2015
March 01, 2015
Dear CKNet Member,
Starting this week and leading up to World Water Day (22 March), UN-Water will launch a social media campaign to raise awareness and support for water and sanitation.
This global campaign will activate through social media in two ways:
- By using the hashtag #WaterIs with selfies and pictures of people all over the world. Many people are getting on board and we also have the privilege to get some more known faces to lend their support such as Iker Casillas, who is a UNDP Goodwill Ambassador.
- By building on your fantastic outreach potential (thank you!) through common postings of text and visual material.
To make things simple, we would like to ask you to be involved in two ways:
Be part of the global voice for #WaterIs in two ways: First, relay the invitation to your colleagues, families and friends and then take a selfie or picture of your head of organization and/or yourself or your team.
Have a look at UN-Water’s social media channels to see if your families, friends and colleagues have followed your instructions and posted their water selfie;
Take a selfie, picture or video of your choice and upload it to your favourite social media channel, tagging it #WaterIs and #WorldWaterDay. You can also send it to us at unwater@un.org <mailto:unwater@un.org>
Use your organization’s social media channels to relay information and visuals on water and World Water Day. To help you with this, we have prepared a social media kit that you can find on this dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fwgqsmvryzhq7pz/AAC7NCly7F9t-TsH9fxIHZhna?dl=0 <https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fwgqsmvryzhq7pz/AAC7NCly7F9t-TsH9fxIHZhna?dl=0> On this link we will also add material leading up to World Water Day such as the animated film that you are free to use in your activities.
On the official World Water Day <http://www.unwater.org/worldwaterday/> <http://www.unwater.org/worldwaterday/>website, there is also material available – from short informative texts to visuals and downloadable posters and prints.
Please also let us know if there’s any way in which we can also support your activities and social media efforts for the World Water Day. We would be happy to feature your initiatives online.
If you want to show further support leading up to the World Water Day campaign, please download the WWD email signature <http://www.unwater.org/worldwaterday/materials/banners/en/>and insert in your email.
Many thanks again for your support in this campaign.
