Road Show CKNet-INA To Strengthen Networking

June 14, 2011

Congeniality road show to visit new CKNet-INA members was initiated by Jan TL Yap as Network manager. The main objective is to introduce the concept of Knowledge Networking and introducing CKNet-INA to the other staff members of the members institute. Further, the trip is a good opportunity to start a dialogue with the members to listen to the expectations of the members as a member of our network.

The first visit was paid to the Study Center for Environment of the Brawijaya University (UNIBRAW) in April 2011.  A visit was also paid to the headoffice of the Brantas River Basin Authority (Perum Jasa Tirta 1 – PJT1) in Malang. A meeting was held with the senior management of PJT1. The objective of the visit to PJT1 was to explore opportunities to collaborate in knowledge network activities in the future. During that meeting it was decided to organize a 1 week course on IWRM as adaptation tool for Climate Change. Target group would be senior staf of river basin organization in Indonesia (Balai Besar and Balai PSDA).

In Surabaya a visit was paid to the Christian University Petra with the same objective as the visit to UNIBRAW. In May a similar visit was made to  Trisakti University in Jakarta. Coming visits are scheduled to visit Gunadarma University in Jakarta, Gajah Mada University in Jogya, Muhammadyah University Surakarta, and Sugiopranoto Catholic university in Semarang.

In general the discussions held during the meetings were focused at the expectations of the members, benefit of collaborative networking and exploring future collaboration ideas among the members. Some members raised questions on the possibility to  exchange research paper and journals to enrich the faculty knowledge base.  Possibilities to make use of CKNet-INA websiote for knowledge exchange purposes were also discussed. Basically, our website offer facilities for exchange research papers and journals. The facilities to exchange research paper s and journals have already been set up. The Secretariat will prepare a manual or guideline to facilitate up- and downloading academic and knowledge papers and articles.

Hopefully in the future a knowledge bank can be developed and accessed by network members through CKNet-INA website. Currently, the Secretariat is preparing a draft content of an E-Library. Thedraft content can be seen on:  http://cknet-ina.org/?menu=library.

Your inputs and suggestions on the content of the E-library are most welcome. All materials in the E-library will be made available for downloading by CKNet-INA members only.
