A brief report on International Training Course Sustainable Water Resources Management 2015

The faculty of Environment and Resources Studies, Mahidol University Thailand, in collaboration with the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and Technical Cooperation Directorate (TCD) Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, organized an International Training Course on "Sustainable Water Resources Management" on May 18-22, 2015 at the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University.
The course was opened by Assoc. Prof. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Vice President of Mahidol University, followed by Assoc. Prof, Dr. Kampanad Bhaktikul, Dean, Faculty of Environment and Resources Studies, Mahidol University, and Jan T.L Yap, the Network Manager of AguaJaring/CKNet.
Who delivered the course?
The facilitators in this course are professionals in their fields and were characterized by their knowledge and expertise of the subject. They are: Jan T.L Yap (AguaJaring/CKNet), Dr. Atsamon Limsakul (Dept of Environmental Quality Promotion, Thailand), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kampanad Bhaktikul (Mahidol University), Dr. Nuanchan Singkran (Mahidol University), Dr. Thongplew Kongjan (IDI), PUB Representative (PUB Singapore), and Dr. Watchara Suadee (Mahidol University).
Who attended the course?
The participants of the International course are professionals from selected South East Asia countries. There were 14 participants in total, consisting of 3 females (21%) and 11 males (79%) with the composition as follows:
- Brunei Darussalam 2 Males
- Cambodia 2 Males
- Lao PDR 2 Males
- Myanmar 2 Females
- Philippines 2 Males, 1 Female
- Timor Leste 3 Males
What is the content delivered in the course?
A 5-day course which consists of four (4) days on 8 course outlines, Case studies on Countries Report presentation, and one-day trip to visit the local site related to Water Resources Management activitities.
The course topics were: Introduction to Sustainable Water Resources Management, Basin Planning for Water Resources Management, Climate Change Impacts, Floods 2011 Lesson Learned from Thailand, Deep Understanding of Water Resources and Environmental Protection, Disasters Management on Flood, Sustainable Water Resource Management in Singapore and Climate Change Adaptation Activities Related to Water Resource in Thailand. Most topics contain case studies of best practices.
The learning programs have been structured to meet the needs of those who would like to broaden their knowledge in Sustainable Water Resources Management.
